Google Search

Google is so closely associated with search that to say 'Google Search' is almost tautological. The search engine dates from the mid-90s, with the Google domain registered in September 1997. It is now the most popular website in the world.

Search results on Google are often broken down into organic (natural rankings determined by algorithm) and paid (effectively advertising, though relevance still plays a role). It is the latter that drives the Google machine, with Google holding a 73% share of search ad revenues in the US - a cool $40.3 billion.
